The attack made by Auckland-owned horses upon the Manawatu Hunt Club's meeting on Saturday was complete, and during the afternoon four events were captured by them. The Dozer was the first to succeed when the son of Valette t'ook the Wait una Hurdles in fine style. He started favourite on the win machine, and after being nicely placed in fhe early stages stepped to the front about five furlongs from home and went 011 to lead over the remainder of the journey. He carried 11.2, or 181b more than he is weigiited at in the C.J.(J. Grand National Hurdles, in which race he is now likely to become one of the favourites. Expellant, hitherto an unlucky horse in hack events—lie has a number of placings to his credit—gave the province the second win when he made the opposition look cheap in the Ohau Handicap, and registered his first success. The son of Appellant—Exalted starter! the win favourite, and at the finish had a margin of half a dozen lengths over the second horse Tli ea tre. Dauber was the third Auckland-owned winner, and hero again the public showed food judgment, sending him out favourite. >auber had not had a race for nearly twelve months, but. he must have been a very fit horse as he had no difficulty in scoring an easy win after givirig a firstclass exhibition of jumping. Dauber is engaged in the Grand National Steeplechase at Rieearton next month with 9.7, or 2.51b less than he carried on Saturday. Another victory came to Auckland when the only moderately fancied Royal Jay took the Cheltenham Hack Cup to return a double-figure win dividend.
