JOCKEYS IN SPOTLIGHT

The versatile horseman F. Cleaver, who has just finished a month's suspension meted out to him by Che Auckland judicial committee at the Great Northern meeting, was right in the spotlight at Awapuni on Saturday. He won the Hurdles on The Dozer, the Oliau Maiden on Expellant, and t)he Hunt Cup Steeplechase on Dauber. An even better performance, although the occasion was not an important one. was recorded by the apprentice E. V. Dye at Ma.t*umata at the non-tote p.itrioiic meeting. There were five races in which Dye was eligible to ride, and in four of them he was on the winner. He won the Hurdles on Kena, Freyberg Handicap on Te Haka, Churchill Handicap on Kilca^i, and De Gaulle Handicap on Little Rose. His unsuccessful ride was on Diane, third in the Roosevelt Maiden.
