WOMEN IN RUSSIA

EXCITING SPY STORY

"N.Z. WOMAN'S WEEKLY"

To-day we read of thirty million Russian women taking their places in industry to manufacture war materials and commodities for the soldiers at the front. In this week's issue of the "New Zealand Woman's Weekly" a comparison is made between the slave condition of Russian women in the past, and their present enlightened status. While Hitler has been relegating women to child bearing and cooking and has completely robbed them of any rights as human beings, the Russians have taken the woman's emancipation movement very seriously. Under a Government which is impartial to sex barriers, it has been possible even for the mothers of families to have made marvellous achievements in every field of human activity. The present war with Germany may be particularly significant for the future of women .throughout the world, thirty million women are working in factories and success in the battle largely depends on their courage perseverance and determination! Only time will tell whether it can stand the test.

The editress urges the need for a return to simple standards and points out the fact that we are looking upon the world as a most, complex structure. If we are to find any basis for reconstructing the world we must aim at simplifying these terriblv complicated affairs and bringing them down to basic facts that even* one can understand

. Ihe issue also contains the first instalment of an exciting new spy serial entitled "Mata Hari's Daughter." There are the usual entertaining stories and articles, also several free patterns from which readers may choose.
