HOSPITAL SALARIES

BOARD DECLINES REQUEST

The acting-medical superintendent of the Auckland Hospital, Dr. W. Gilmour, forwarded to the Hospital Board at its meeting last evening an application on behalf of twenty resident medical officers for an increase in salary. The applicants stated that other hospital boards had for some time past paid the junior resident medical staff of similar qualifications at least £50 per annum more than they were receiving. They asked for an increase of £50 a year, to be retrospective from January last.

The chairman, Mr. Allan J. Moody, said that the residents got the best experience in Auckland.

The board decided to decline the request.
