DEFINITE SHORTAGES Germany Benefits Greatly From Victims Rec. 2 p.m. WASHINGTON, May 2<V In spite of a definite shortage of some essential commodities and food supplies. Europe has sufficient tv> maintain current rationing, states a Department of Agriculture report Germany's food problem does not resemble that of 3934-18. The present war has not yet seriously interfered with her agricultural production. Rations are practically unchanged in Germany because of her vast reserves before the war and the spoils from conquered countries.
The situation in Italy is much less favourable. Army demands are depleting civilian 'reserves. Moreover. iarpe quantities of vital Italian foodstuffs were exported to Germany. Conditions in France. Belgium Xorwav and the Netherlands are unfavourable. all having suffered bv German requisitioning.
