INTOXICATED IN CAR

TRAVELLER FINED £25 Arrested by Constable Du Temple at Takapuna yesterday afternoon, George Herbert Bradford, a commercial traveller, aged 62, appeared in the Police Court to-day and admitted that he was in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor car in Main North Highway. Sub-Inspector Pender said the constable found Bradford to be intoxicated at 12.20 p.m. yesterday. While driving his car on the Main North Highway, the vehicle got into a ditch. Bradford, who was not in a fit condition to have cnarge of the car, admitted to the constable that he had a few gins a short time before. Mr. Allan Moody, who appeared for defendant, pointed out that there was no evidence of any bad driving on Bradford's part. In view of Bradford's age and his previous unblemished record, counsel asked that a fine might be imposed.

Mr. F. K. Hunt. S.M.. fined Bradford £25 and cancelled his license for 12 months.
