NEW ZEALAND TROOPS
TRIBUTE BY COMMANDER (P.A.) WELLINGTON, this day. The following telegram has been received by Sir Andrew Russell from Sir 11. Maitland Wilson, who commanded British forces in Libya and Greece:— "In the recent campaign in Greece, in a severe ordeal against heavy odds, especially in the air. the New Zealand Division acquitted itself magnificently, carrying out difficult and complicated withdrawals and inflicting severe losses on the enemy infantry and tanks. "Its spirit and lighting qualities are of the highest order, and right up to the traditions of the New Zea land Division in which I had the honour to serve on your staff." Sir Andrew Ijtussell has suitably replied. Sir H. Maitland Wilson . was General Staff Officer (grade one) of the New Zealand Division in 19171S and Sir Andrew was General Officer Commanding.
