THE WHITE AST.
It is no use wasting time with another builder who says creosote is of no value in combating white ant I se c men on the roads taking the tap off electric wire poles and coating thebottom of the poles with creosote. Arc they wasting their time! I nv , photograph of a house in the "Star" a year or two ago which had to bp burned on account of borer; the house was at Narrow Neck. It t U built with second class rimu. From the point of view of taking borer there U no difference between second ri nm and ordinary building rimu. Wh» t about the tens of thousands of housealready built in Auckland! Ia nothin" to be done to prevent this terrible pest getting into these houses! I hate renovated many of the old-time homes in Auckland, and while I have seen the ravages of the white ant in some oi them I have never found any of the ants. Doubtless the climate at Hawaii is more suited to the termite than tic Auckland climate.
