PATRIOTIC FUNDS: A CHALLENGE.
A grave weakness is becoming apparent in the administration of fundsubscribed by the public for the benefit of soldiers both at home and oversea?. Thus disbursements made by patriot*councils are covered by receipt* duly filed, and, on occasion, flourished in tie faces of an inquiring public. SurJi receipts, however, are no answer to th"» question: Do the dooatwM actually reach the intended beneflciaritt! At an instance, a Christmas Ink at half-a - crown per head was voted to every home service man in camp in the Auckland area at that date, and the undersigned will cheerfully forgo their share*, of the "donation" if the eoonril will state definitely through your columns that, as a result of inquiries, it ha> ascertained that this Christmas box did reach the soldiers concerned. Ii fart, the money was paid out to some ram and not to others, and we an carious as to the reason for the discrimination. TWO DIGGERS.
