TO IMPROVE, NOT DESTROY.
( To the Editor.)
If one were not painfully sure of it it would be difficult to believe ther« a ghastly and indiscriminate world war in .ic;ion. Seeing the papers are a*, stantlv reporting slopwork meetings, strikes :ind threatening at our door, and thi* in spite of Government Ministers constantly settling the troubles, can ii really be ikat men are oblivious of th-f serious eonsequeaee« threatening us from dictators and ctm-
spiring influences to Wot out our rcrv existence, including their own! Ma ß r of us have been through gruelling «' peneiiecs much wor*e than their* and though we often bore excruciating rt suits, we tried to act like men who had great rcspon*ibilities on their shoulder* —to try justly to improve rather than destroy the very libertv so manT today are thundering about. Whv dicta tor-like, hurt innocent motbe'ri tD d children to get all at one*' Give « open inquiry and settlement of obiec tions by all means justly, but the «£n, of the times need sacrifice, jorfnllv given, for the hope of final. li*tinpeace and friendship. Shall we "mofj the ship for a lia'porth of paint"! ARISE AXD SHIXK.
