SATISFACTORY SEASON.
TE AROHA JOCKEY CLUB. TB AROHA, this day. N Mr. It. L. Somern presided over a record nttendance At th« annual meeting of the Te Aroha Jockey Club last evening. Speaking, on the balance-sheet Mr. J. Polilen said that taking everything into consideration members had every reason to be. satisfied. The extremely unfavourable weather conditions prevailing throughout the province just before and during the period of the meeting had a detrimental effect on Hie attendance. Given fine weather the meeting would not have fallen far short of the previous record year. The farm account revealed a record profit of £640.
The chairman's suggestion that the club should consider assisting In some way the patriotic fund met general approval. While he did not consider it possible to secure a date to promote a special patriotic meeting the profits at the next annual meeting might be set aside for some such purpose. After full discussion Mr. I'ohlen moved in this direction, the resolution being carried almost unanimously.
The officers for the ensuing year are:— President, Mr. R. L. Somers ; vice-presi-dents. Messrs. P. Baine, P. T. Howe, J. A. Hepburn; committee, Messrs. K. J. Aisliihie, G. P. Goodfellow, J. Pohlen, C. H. Murphy, 3. Kenny unil A. J. McXicol: lion. treasurer; Mr. J. P. Somcrs; secretary, Mr. J. P. Somers.
