SOLDIER KILLED.
BURNHAM FATALITY. UNDER EXCURSION TRAIN. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. A soldier from Burnham camp was fatally injured when he fell beneath an excursion train at Burnham station about 9.15 to-night. The victim was:— Private L. L. Williams, aged 26, of Teinuka, x member of the Third Echelon. Private Williams, who had been visiting relatives at Teinuka, wae stated by a passenger on the train to have attempted to leave the train as it was pulling out of Burnham station on ite return to Ohristchurch. Hβ had a heavy pack on hie back and he fell between the step of the carriage and the platform. One of the passengers immediately stopped the train, but the wheels of the last three carriages had passed across Private Williams' legs. He was rushed to Chrietchurch, but died eoon after admission to hospital there.
