ZONING SCHEME.
BIG PETROL SAVING.
27.000 GALLONS A TEAR.
The system of zoning the distribution of milk in the Auckland metropolitan area decided upon by the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council at the request of the Government, will be instituted on Friday, July 19. In a report to the council to-day the secretary, Mr. N. R. Chapman, stated that the zoning 01 the district would reeult in a saving of 27,000 gallons of petrol annually, - saving which would materially aseist the Government. The report stated that the zones, of which there would be 190, had i>een allotted to the vendors, and eteps had been taken to ensure that consumers would receive the type o milk desired by them, whether raw or pasteurised, loose or bottled. ..ith the introduction of zoning the price of milk would be reduced by a half-penny a quart, loose milk being reduced to 6id per quart and bottled niij.c to 7d. Mr. Chapman saki that the preparing of the scheme had meant considerable work, and the council had done its utmost to see that consumers would not bi inc mveireneed.
