WOMEN'S SERVICE.
LEADER A FASCIST.
COMMANDANT MARY ALLEN.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) LONDON, June 12. A member asked in the House of Commons whether the Government intended to take over the Women's Auxiliary Service, whose leader, Commandant Mary Allen, masqueraded in semi-masculine attire and was known to be a Fascist. The Under-.Sci-rctarv to the Home Office, Mr. 0. Peake. replied that Commandant Allen had not escaped the eyes of the authorities, and the Government was not accepting responsibility for this unofficial so-called organisation, the corporate existence of which Vvas doubtful. Interviewed by the "Daily Mail," Commandant Allen said: "Is this how the Government treats patriots? The Women's Auxiliary Service has been suspended because all its members were performing national service. I have worked for the benefit of my country and am not ashamed to admit, my ■ membership of the British Union o"f Fascists."
