WHY FRANCE FAILED.
In his comment on the collapse of France why does Mr. Gainor Jackson place so much faith in the statements of Marshal Tetain. who has 'betrayed Great Britain and the whole British Empire and made himself the tool of Nazi tyranny? We have had many reasons for France's military collapse. Mr. Vernon Bartlett, M.P.," said that France had been too long governed by men who were more interested in stopping the elow passage of democratic ■power into the hands: of the common man than in guarding France from Nazi-fero. Mr. Geoffrey Cox, New. Zealand journalist and eye-witness at Bordeaux, said Reynaud was out-voted because the element* of the I/eft had been turned out of the Government by Daladier. We afeo have had comments by tho "London Times" and many respectable sources. Yet Mr. Jackeon ignores all these and accepts a miserable excuse by a man who hae betrayed. France, and her Allies and dishonoured her moet solemn pledgee. E. SATCHELL.
