U.F.S. DISPENSARY.
QUARTERLY MEETING. SATISFACTORY FINANCES. The quarterly meeting of the Friendly Societies' Dispensary was well attended, the president being in the chair. The board of management presented its report,, which showed the business of the institution to be carried on with satisfaction to the members and with the usual efficicncy. The membership stands at G630, this being a slight decrease over last year. A number of members are now' on active service whilst many families are removing to the suburbs to occupy the newly-built Government houses. Prescriptions dispensed for the quarter numbered 4433 lodge and 012 private, these numbers also showing a slight decrease.
The balance-sheet revealed a very satisfactory financial position and the dividend adopted at the annual meeting was coilfirmed. Owing to the increase in the price of drugs, the matter of increasing the rates paid to contract chemists was discussed and the board was authorised to' make the best arrangements possible, consistent with economy. It is anticipated that a substantial increase will, he made in these rates, but members will still be treated at the present rates at-the dispensary, the prices having been fixed at the annual meeting. A vote of sympathy was passed with Brother P. Owens, who ■was absent through illness.
