STRONG POSITION.
MOUNT EDEN FINANCES. The finances of the Mount Eden Borough are in a stronger position now than for many years past. This was made clear in the report presented to tlie borough council by the town clerk and treasurer, Mr. A. Jack, at last nights meeting. The total debit balance on March 31 last was £2033 9/3 as compared with £12,508 10/7 on March 31, 1939. The collection of current rates had exceeded the estimates by £3055, and collection of arrears of rates exceeded the estimate by £500. Other estimates exceeded were heavy traffic fees by £2034, petrol tax by £321, and water by meter by £1190.
