N.Z. RIFLE BRIGADE.
PAGE FROM WAR HISTORY. On page .102 of the Otlicial History of the New Zealand Rifle Brigade, compiled bv Lieutenant-colonel Austin, D.5.0., appears the following:—"The falling of a shell into the car post at Biefvillers resulted in blowing off the tops of two large vehicles, luckily empty at the time, and the only casual'y was that a «Y.M.C.A. attendant lost a leg. The Y.M.C.A. organisation during this Bapaume operation sent parties forward to advanced posts, from which they dealt out, without charge, comforts, food and drink to all men passing through. Let it here be said that those who contributed to the support of the Y.M.C.A. may rest assured that their gifts were expended in a manner which earned the praise of all who were personally acquainted with the activities of the organisation at the front."
