(rtecelved noon.) VATICAN CITY, February 27. The Pope received Mr. Myron Taylor, the new Ambassador, and expressed pleasure that the President of the United States had sent a representative after so many years.
The Vatican released Mr. Roosevelt's letter to the Pope simultaneously with the letter nominating Mr. Taylor as his personal Ambassador to the Vatican.
The President reminded the Pope of hie suggestion to dispatch a personal representative in order to promote American and Italian efforts to eecure peace and alleviate suffering.
Mr. Roosevelt said he hoped Mr. Tayior would be a channel for the exchange of views promoting international concord for the re-establishment of a more permanent |>eace. bus o<l on freedom and assurance of life ami the integrity of all nations under liod.
The Papal Court received Mr. Taylor with the traditional ambassadorial ceremony.
