NOXIOUS WEEDS.

ERADICATION IN FRANKLIN. "It is extremely gratifying to see tbe way in which noxious weeds in the country are being eradicated," said Mr. W. J. Sommerville at yesterday's meeting of the Franklin County Council. "I have no hesitation in saying that the county is showing a 50 per cent reduction, especially as far as ragwort is coneeriied," he added. It was the general opinion of members that farmers, were giving the council their full co-operation in ridding the county of weed pests, and the results were extremely gratifying. A tour of inspection had shown that the position was much better than it was two years ago. While there were one or two border-line cases, there was none bad enough to warrant a prosecution. The report of the noxious weeds inspector, Mr. C. P. Grioe, stated that at the moment all the matters in the county were well under control.
