VIOLET RAY.

COMMERCIAL USES.

LAMP FOR AUCKLAND.

Demonstrations of a violet-ray lamp at the recent power boards' conference at Wellington were favourably commented upon at a meeting of the Auckland Electric Power Board yesterday afternoon, and a decision was made to get a lamp for demonstration purposes in Auckland.

The general manager, Mr. R. H. Bartley, said that the age of eggs could be told with the lamp by the degree of florescence. The age of milk could also be told. The ray had a very wide use commercially.

Mr. C. J. Ludgrove said that he saw the demonstration, and it was amazing the number of uses that the ray could be put to.
