SALE OF FRUIT.
ORGANISATION SOUGHT.
REQUEST BY GROWERS
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
HASTINGS, Monday.
Endorsement of the principle of aeking the Government to organise the sale and distribution of fruit in co-operal ion with representatives of the growers was given almost unanimously by a meeting of 150 Hawke's Bay fruitgrowers held on Saturday night.
It was recalled that at the combined fruitgrowers' conference in Wellington in August, it had been decided by practically a unanimous vote to ask the Government to co-operate with the growers in organising the sale and distribution of pip fruit, and for a guarantee for such fruit. The text of the resolution carried on Saturday night involved the same principle, but, in addition, it made it clear that the organisation was sought in respect to all fruit, both local and export, and included a request for an advance for local fruit as. is done for export fruit.
