THOUSANDS STRIKE.
French Workers Object to Wages Cat. MINERS' DISPUTE SETTLED. (Received 2 p.m.) PARIS, September 2. A new strike wave threatens northern industrial areas. In a«fetion to the textile workers and dockers and 1100 Lille tramway workers struck for higher wages. The "Daily Telegraph" Paris correspondent says that 20.000 Lille jute workers, protesting against the 15 per cent wage reduction, have struck. Coal owners and miners reached an agreement and removed the strike fear. Miners will work an extra 11 days for six months from September 1 in return for a 6 per cent increase. It is estimated that the increased output will be 2,000,000 tons, saving £3,000,000 formerly sent abroad. It will affect British exporters considerably.
