INCREASE IN CONSUMPTION. "I'lans and facilities for tlie prompt commencement of construction work when required should be finalised without delay," said the waterworks engineer, Mr. A. D. Mead, in a report to the Auckland City Council last evening, when referring to the future development of the water-supply system for the city. He pointed out that there had been a lar<>e increase in consumption iu recent years, and if the trend continued difficulties might arise in connection with reservoir capacity and distribution. The Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, said that there appeared to be a tremendous increase in consumption. The chairman of the works committee. Mr. J. A. C. Allum, said that the committee would watch the situation.
