THE MUNICIPAL BAND.
The discontinuance of the Municipal Band as at present constituted by the City Council and the reorganising of it as a brass hand on a limited subsidy basis is commendable. This municipal endeavour has been a liability for some considerable time, for we learn that for 1936-37 the band's receipts were onlr £275 10/. while payments, -which included' £19Sl 11/11 for salaries and wages, totalled £2385 15/1. Further comment is quite unnecessary, except that its doom is long overdue. HARRY WOODRUFFE.
