TRAVEL CLUB.

INTERESTING ADDRESS. FRENCH OFFICERS ENTERTAINED. At the weekly morning tea of the Auckland Travel Club held in the Milne and Choyce reception rooms yesterday, the Consul for France, Monsieur Andre Pouquet, and Madame Pouquet, and three officers, Messieurs A. Omer, A. Bossuet and J. Kancourt, from the French sloop Kigali It de (Jeiiouilly, were guests of honour. The president of the Auckland Travel Clulj, the Hon. Eliot R. Davies, M.L.C., presided at the meeting and extended a special greeting to the officers and to M. and Madame Poquet, who are leaving shortly for Wellington. On behalf of the club, the organising director, Mrs. Victor Maeky, presented Madame Pouquet with a bouquet of flowers. In hia reply, M. Pouquet said that he was sure the French officers would take away happy memories of the hospitality shown them in New Zealand. He and Madame Pouquet would miss all the good friends that they had made in Auckland, but they hoped to keep in touch with them from Wellington. The speaker for the morning was Dr. Gerda Eicliaum, of Havelock Nortn, who gave an interesting account of a journey through Europe. In the course of her talk she mentioned all the most important European towns, including Rome, Vienna, Paris, Budapest, Prague and Biarritz. Piano forte solos were given by Mrs. Gully, and Miss Gwenda Weir sang two French songs. Among the overseas and out-of-town guests were: Mies Francesca Pillret (France), Mrs. I. L. Clifford (Queensland), Mrs. S. Ackland (Suva), Mrs. E. R. Parker, Mrs. M. M. Donnelly, Mrs. M. E. Kean, Miss Dawson. Miss G. Gray (Wellington), Mr. and Mrs. Gallagher (Waipukurau), Mrs. E. M. Bavliss (Cambridge), Mrs. I. Trembath (Hamilton), Mrs. Riley (Kaitaia), Mrs. Doorty (Morrinsville), Miss Dare (Thames), Mrs. Griffiths (Tauranga).
