PRESIDENT HONOURED.

WELFARE ASSOCIATION. A farewell party was given at the residence of Mr. D. Thomas to Mrs F. Mcßride. J.P.. Members of the Mount Albert Welfare Association, of which Mrs. Mcßride is an executive member, and friends were present. Bridge and five hundred were played. Assisting Mr. D. Thomas was his daughter, Mrs. Norman Stringer. After supper Mr. Anderson, Mayor of Mount Albert made a speech to the guest of the evening, Mrs. Mcßride, who had given a lifetime service for the welfare of Auckland and its people. The Mayoress, who was unable to he present, sent her best wishes. Mr. W. White also paid tribute to Mrs. Mcßride for her work as vice-president of the Mqunt Albert Ratepayers' Association and\ in the work for the soldiers and Poppy Day, ctc. The Mayor then asked Mrs. Mcßride to ticcept on behalf of her fellow members of the association a beautiful travelling bag. Her health and safe return were then toasted with musical honours. Mrs. Mcßride. in returning thanks, said it was only because she had co-operation and willing help that she was abJe to do anything to assist. A happy evening closed with the presentation of the prizes to the winners of the bridge (Mrs. W. Weaver and Mr. (Hugel) and live hundred competitions (Mrs. F. Mcßride and Mr. W. .White). (
