TE RAPA TRIALS.
TOSH'S SMART HALF. TRILLIARCH ALSO IMPRESSES. {By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") HAMILTOX, this day. The No. 2 grass and the plough provided fast going at Te Rapa, when a rather restricted programme was observed by local candidates for Tauranga. Several pleasing efforts were recorded, the best being those of Tosh over half a mile on the plough, and Trill' ircli over five furlong«s on the grass. An early fog delayed operations somewhat, but it cleared in time for the major portion of the programme to be conducted under ideal conditions.
On the Xo. 2 grass Malfroy (A. Gilmer) and Valquin (W. Thomson) were associated over five furlongs in ].8. Green Label (R. Fearn), who got the best of the jump-off, was slightly in front of Raceline (H. Long) and Lady Kew (X. R. McKenzie) at the completion of five furlonge in 1.0 1-5. Green Label was sticking to her work over the deciding stages. Master Brierly (light boy) was doing better than Raeewhip (J. Winder)* over six furlongs in 1.18. The former is bearing a healthy appearance. Du Maurier (H. Long) was holding Kurnpae (A. Gilmer) safely at the end of five furlongs in 1.5. Du Maurier could have improved on the time. Kingcraft (.7. Winder) came home the last three furlongs of his work in 38e. A smart three furlongs was credited to Miss Clipper (X. R. McKenzie). who ran the distance in 36 4-ss. A. P. Brady's charge is to fulfil her engagement in the Trial Plate at Tauranga on Saturday. A useful effort over five furlongs was that of Trilliarch (J. Day), who, "with the maiden Pnunui (W. Thomson) to assist him, clocked 1.4, the last half-mile occupying 51 3-ss.
On The Plough. Tosh (J. F. Fergus) ran home from the half-mile in 49 3-ss. doing his work well at the end. He is in good order for racing. Merial came home the last three furlongs of her work in 40 4-ss. Fairy Hill (W. Thomson) brushed over two furlongs along the back in 2ns. Tradesman (Reilly) negotiated a round in 1.48 3-5.
