CYCLING TESTS.
SCRATCH RACE EVENTS MANUKAU CLUB LEADS. I TRINER WINS TEN-MI LER. Fine weather prevailed for the second scratch race meeting at the Papatoetoe Stadium hanked asphalt track. The events were controlled by officials of the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Cycling Association. In the A graile events there -were seven 1 absentees, notanly M. P. Byrnes, A. G. Patrick, J. H. Gillbanks and 11. T. Taylor. R. S. Triner. who will represent the Dominion in the Empire Gaines road race, won the 10-miler with 37 points. A. J. Mclnnarney ran him a close second in the final sprint, while Hughes headed Wade. Goodcr, the other starter, retired early. The clubs gained points as follows:— Papatoetoe 25J, Manukau 22J, Lynndale 13, Surrey 5 and Northern 2. With two meetings decided Manukau leads with 47A points, followed by Papatoetoe 375, lynndale 325, Northern 10$, and Surrey 5. Mclnnarney (P) 3. Time 27.24. B GRADE. One Mile.—W. A. Barnett (L.) 1, H. R. Baldwin (L) 2, D. E. Knight (P) 3. Time. 2.29 2-5. Three Miles Points (nine starters).—H. R. Baldwin, 11 points (L), 1 : D. E. Knight, 9 points (P), and G. H. Cunningham, 9 points (M), 2. C GRADE. Half-mile.—R. E. Clark (M) 1, R. J. Vernon (M) 2, J. B. Johnston (M) 3. Time, 1.12. Tlie third and final meeting will be held on Thursday evening, February 10, at Paijiatoetoe.
