The Kaiwhaka. OSft towboat for W anganui, wits launched this morning from the yards of Messrs. W. <;. Lowe and Son, Ltd.. in traditional style. Breaking a bottle of champagne across the Vermel s bows, Mrs. T. ]■. Lowe performed the christening ceremony, and at nine o'clock the Kaiwhaka was sent down the ways. The launching was effected perfectly, the Kaiwhaka gracefully and serenely gliding out into the harbour, where she was taken in tow and made fast alongside a jetty for her engines to be installed.

The craft has a large decklkouse amidships. where all controls are localised. Her fuel and water tanks are sufficient to give her a cruising range as far as Australia or the Islands. After being launched she was taken to the Markets wharf for tiie installation of her engines.
