DANGEROUS DRIVING. CONFLICT OF EVIDENCE. "EXTRAORDINARY," SAYS S.M. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, thU day. "There is a most extraordinary conflict of evidence in this case, and I have come to the conclusion that the defendant is not to be believed," said Mr. S. L. I'aterson, .S.M., in convicting Dr. D. Martin, of Ngaruawahia, on a charge of dangerous driving. Dr. Martin was lined £2 and costs, and his license was endorsed until l!):it). In the Police Court to-day the p<>li.-e in evidence stated that two constables on duty at the corner of Col ling wood Street had their attention drawn to a ear speeding through the main street. One stepped out on the road, took the number and wivtrhed the car pnved south. It stopped at the Post OlHi-e, and the con.-tahle walked <(iiicklv down, but tlie car went on again. "W licit the constable arrived he found a lxiv had been knocked off his bicvcle bv the car.
Defendant stated that he stopped between Colling wood Street and the x'ost Ofliee and collected parcels left there for him. Jlis evidence was corroborated bv two nephews who were in the car and "a friend whom he met outride the shop. Martin admitted colliding with the bievrle. but the youth was not hurt, and he drove on again.
