FIRST MEETING.
NEW ORGANISATION. FREEDOM AND SECURITY. Outlining the objects and principles of the Freedom and Economic Security League at a public meeting held in the Chamber of Commerce Hall last night, the chairman, Mr. E. C. Cutten, said the aim of Christian social order did uot limit membership to professing Christians, but those who believed every member of the community was entitled to liberty and economic security would he welcome as members of the society. Mr. A. E. Robinson pointed out that democracy did not exist under the present Parliamentary system, in which Parliament was subservient to vested interests which controlled Parliament through caucus. He pointed out that the present evstem. under which the electors had "to choose between two parties., disfranchised a great many jieople who believed in neither. However, the fact that preferential voting was a principle of the league would go a long way towards removing that objection. After the meeting the society was formed and the constitution approved. The provincial executive is as follows:— Mr. W. J. McMillan (chairman). Mrs. S. Millie, Messrs. W. Bailey, R. R. Blade. E. C. Cutten, F. D. Danks, M. Dunningham. W. F. Jamieson, F. C. Jordan, H. Mac Master, A. E. Robinson and Captain White.
