ATTEMPTED THEFT CHARGE.
TWO MEN" COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. f Pleading not guilty to a charge of attempting to steal from the person of Walter Percy Lewis in a lane at the back of the Post Office on Thursday, August 5, two men, Leslie Murray (31), labourer, and Edward Henry Leedham Quintal (31), driver, were committed, to the Supreme Court for trial by Messrs. L. S. Rickerby and G. Magee, J.P.'s, in the Police Court late yesterday afternoon. Mr. W. Noble, who appeared for both accused, submitted that the evidence against Quintal was not sufficiently strong to warrant the expense of committing him for trial.
