MAORI EDUCATION.
AUCKLAND FELLOWSHIP. The specialised study of education from the Maori point of view will be the interest of an Auckland group of the Xew Education Fellowship— the first formed in Xew Zealand. The idea of the group was developed this month, and at a meeteing yesterday the following executive was appointed: Leader, Dr. W. S. Dale; deputy-leader and honorary interpreter. Mr. Patrick Smith; convener. Mrs. M. Hurst; honorary secretary, and treasurer, Miss Alice J. Greville. The Auckland ilnori group has a representati\ e Maori and European membership, and it is probable that its acti\ ities will be followed in other centres, especially as far as adult education is concerned. Lady Pomare, when recently in Auckland, was extremely interested in the possibilities of studying Maori education under Xew Education Fellowship principles, and is working in co-operation with the Auckland group. The application of the principles of social anthropology to the field of Maori education is to be one of the lines of study. Fortnightly meetings will be held and from time to time open lecture and discussion evenings organised.
