MAYORAL REGALIA.

MOUNT EDEN BOROUGH. Last year the Mount Eden Borough Council decided to order a suitable regalia to be worn by the Mayor of the borough while occupying the Mayoral chair. The regalia, a chain of office, is a i ibbon, attached to which are nine handsome medallions. It was handed to the present Mayor, Mr. T. McXab, at last night's meeting of the council. The engravings on three of the medallions show that the district was constituted a highways district in IS6S, a road board district ill 18S2, and a borough in 1900. The Mayoral history of° the borough is shown on six of the medallions. The first Mayor was Mr. Oliver Nicholson, 190G-1918.* Then followed Mr. Charles Hudson, 1918-1920; Mr. J W Sliackleford, 1920-1923; Rev. J. L. A. Kayll, 1923; Mr. E. Potter, 1923-1931; Mr. T. McXab, 1931.
