WOMEN'S WORK.

LABOUR PARTY SOCIAL

Mrs. R. Wynn was the speaker at an enjoyable social afternoon given by the social committee of the Epsom-Oak branch of the Labour party. Mrs. Mere Newton, secretary of the branch, presided over a large attendance.

Mrs. Wynn spoke of the work of the Auckland women's branch, of which *he is secretary. Traversing briefly the platform of the party, she indicated which aspects specially interest women ae workers, wives and mothers. Women, she said, had of course, played an important part in the defining of the party's policy, as the annual conferences Were attended by women delegates, and many women were in executive positions in local branches and also the various Labour representation committees. Mrs. Wynn spoke of her visit to Wellington as delegate to last Easter conference, and of the remits which the Auckland women's branch had sent forward. Of these, eome were referred direct to the Ministers concerned for their consideration, others went before conference.

Mm. Wynn eulogised the work of Labour -women in the past and at present, saying that the particular influence and experience of intelligent women was needed in every branch of the party's work. Working side by side with the men, women's help would contribute much to social reorganisation.
