SOLDIERS AND WORK.
To add a few lines to the letter of "Eternal Hope." my husband. who was 14 years old at the outbreak of the war. gave up his apprenticeship to serve his country. In 101S he was looking for a job. as wore The rest: still. we do not grumble- He was a marine, of good physique, and has his own teeth, yet his application to join the police force a few years ago was turned down. as he was too small. Applying to the Tramways Board la>t year, he was too old and too big. and he is 37 years old in July. Applying to the Hail ways Department for a carpenter's jol>. he was told he would have to produce his apprenticeship papers, yet he is a pood carpenter. So it seems lie is always to lie handicapped fur being foolish enough to join tip. In the event of another war I will do my utmost to prevent him from joining up a rain. BITTER.
