THE B STATIONS.

Until recently I had the greatest of confidence in the Labour Government carrying out its election promises of fair play to the B stations. Regrettable as it may seem, only one B station has had the fair play which was promised to all; and undoubtedly for services rendered. Its owner was paid a presumably handsome price for his station, given the highly-lucrative post of director of commercial broadcast in ir. and allowed to carry on with his Friendly Road sessions as though he were still the actual owner of IZB. The Jlamirewa station. IZM. provides a friendly and intimate service which is impossible for listeners to obtain from the prim and proper IYA or the eternal murder-serialitis IZB. | Mr. W. W. Rodgers deserves the heartfelt thanks of every listener for the manner in which he has kept the station on the air in adversity, and it is the least we can do to rally around him in his just demands for the Government subsidy which was promised not only to IZ'M but to every other B class station in the Dominion. The Government apparently has a short memory if it forgets the part the B stations' controversy played in the defeat of the previous \dministration at the general elections, and would be well advised to play the game by bouncing the ball fairly for the listeners if it does not wish to see the .score 55 goals against 19 behinds in favour of the Opposition at the next election. The writing is on the wall and history has repeated itself. Mr. Jones—you know that! Mr. Hamilton was penalised heavily for his persistent offside tactics against the listeners prior to and during November, 1935. and is probably a much wiser man by now. Mr.~Savage and his team mates should know by now that the listeners* team is a stiff proposition, the rules are tighter and what were penalties against Mr. Hamilton may prove to be the same against Labour.
