SUCCESSFUL HALF-YEAR. The half-yearly meeting of the Manurewa Town Band executive and the ladies' social committee was held in Pegler's Hall, Mr. J. H. Edwards presiding. The report by the secretary. Mr. A. E. Coombes, was adopted, Mr. Coombes receiving a vote of thanks for his successful work in connection with the band's annual sports. The balance-sheet presented by the treasurer, Mr. H. W. Hood, showed a credit balance of £32. The ladies' committee's balance in bank was shown at £4 10/. Mr. Hood and the ladies were accorded a vote of. thanks for their good work. The conductor of the band, Mr. J. M. Peebles, stated that owing to various causes, such as members leaving the district and boys having to leave on account of examinations, the band's strength had declined, and that vacancies were'now to be filled in the bass and tenor sections. In reply to Mr. Turner, he said that classes for beginners would again be started if required, but not before Anzac Day—as rehearsals for the commemoration section and parade would be starting immediately. A vote of thanks to the chairman and conductor terminated a successful meeting.
