IHTERPBOVIWCIAI. EIGHTS. AUCKLANI). CREW PREPARES. The tenth annual interprovincial eightoar New Zealand championship race for the Hallyburton Johnstone Cup will be rowed at 10 a.m. next- Saturday' on the Wellington Harbour course from Petone to the Wellington wharves.
The entries are thoroughly representative of the various associations affiliated to the Xew Zealand /Amateur" Rowing Association, and increased interest has i been centred 7 'in this f ; year's contest as the.selectors will, be-present for the purj pose of the New Zealand crew for the Empire Games-in Australia next year. The contest should produce the highest standard Of oarsmanship yet witnessed,, for all competitors will be giving ,of,their best in the hope of gaining New Zealand honours. The selectors will undoubtedly have a very difficult task in making their final choice. ThO Auckland Rowing Association's selection Has been the Waitemata Boating Club's eight, that comprises O. W. Dunisbn (stroke), G. M. Brown (7), L. N. Ross,(6), V. Hayward (5). C,. Cairns (4), T. C. Bellringer (3), A. Harper (2), F. Weaver (11,, A.- Nixon (coxswain). Mr. R. Gy Barker, captain of .the" Waitemata Club, :.is-;coach and manager. The crew; has; been in steady training for several weeks and -.despite the amount of rough water of late has-been afloat upon every available opportunity. The training at present is o,f the Hard order and will continuec?. untilr,! Wednesday night, and ; with the Big preparation undergone the crew shoul^;, give a good account of .-itself, despite the fact that a strange boat will be used. -. ;

The Waitemata leavesi by the 7.40 train on Thursday nigfit and this will not permit of more than.abont two spins in their boat. Howeveivall crew are in excellent ,-fprm their work has rawed .n^u^trHhbpA l f«* ; Success, 'despite.- the handicap of a strange', boat. At 11:30, a.m.. onVSaturday the North v. South race will- be rowed and the members of these crews may throw some ideas of how the selectors are thinking.
