CHILD PARALYSIS.

HASTINGS DISTRICT CASES. TWO MORE PROVED POSITIVE. (By Telegraph. —Press Association.) HASTINGS, Monday. Two further cases of infantile paralysis were reported during the weekend to the health authorities in Hastings. Both cases were definitely positive. One of the patients is a six-year-old boy, and the other a two-year-old girl. There have now been seven cases reported in Hastings and surrounding districts since the first case was reported three weeks ago.

DEATH AT WESTPORT.

MORE CASES REPORTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. A death, two positive cases and two suspected cases of infantile paralysis were reported in the Canterbury.*Westland health district to-day. A boy aged two died at Westport, while a married woman from St. Andrew's ha<s been admitted to the Waimate Hospital, and a girl aged 16 is under treatment at Greymouth. The two suspects, both at Runanga, are a youth of 16 and a boy aged seven. FIRST CASE AT WAXROA. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) '"> WAIROA, Monday. The death occurred in the Wairoa Hospital on Friday night of a married man, aged 28, a Maori resident of Mohaka, the cause of death being infantile paralysis. The man had been an inmate of the hospital for about a week as a suspect and was being treated for the disease. This te the first case of infantile paralysis in the district. f SMALL SCHOOL CLOSED. (By Trtegrrapta.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, Monday. A suspected infantile paralysis case, a boy aged 13 from Aorangi, who was admitted to hospital on Friday, has been diagnosed as positive. There are now four cases in hospital. The Taonui School, near Aorangi, has been closed as a precaution. There are no cases in the city. WAIPUKURAU CASE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WAIPUKURAU, Monday. A Porangahau boy, aged three, has contracted infantile paralysis. He had been under observation for some days and was certified a positive case to-day. One arm ia paralysed, but it is understood that the case is not serious. There are no further cases or suspects in hoapital.
