DUN 111 MX. Thursday. The Arbitration C<jurt made an award at its sitting to-dav covering workers in iiwurant-e ofliccs. Mr. P. .1. who appeared for the employees, said that a complete agreement had been reached at the Conciliation ( ..nii.-il, but that lie would like an amendment to the holiday clause, so that, where the Anniversary Day was not observed as a statutory holiday, it. could be left to the parties to allot a not her day. Mr. A. S. Cook>on. who appeared for tin- employer.-, said that lie was agreeable, and hiHonor said that the necessary clause would be in-erted in the award. It was agreed that the clause should take this '01 in: In any locality where anv of the above holidays is not pern-rally observed, another holiday may be substituted by mutual arrangement between employers aml the union."
Iho award will ajij-ly to 11 members ot the ii.di.or clerical .-.tall' and iiisj.eclors \\ 110 aic in receipt of £4.i() per annum or Industrial superintendent- are to lie paid not less than a week by way ot salary, commission and/or other payment-, and are to be allowed an annua! holiday, as prescribed in the a wa rd.

The normal working week will be Iroin Monday to l riday inclusive, and the total hours worked must not exceed .'I7A. except that in special eases an employee may be required to work a "renter number of total hours, but not exceeding' 4u. without payment of overtime. All hours worked in excess of 40 hours a week will be regarded as overtime and must be paid for at the rate of time and a half for the tirst 'our hours on any one day and double time thereafter.
Ihe award is to operate throughout the Xort hern. Taranaki. Wellington. 11 a wke's Hay. Nelson, Wcstland. Canterbury and Ot.iL'o and Southland industrial districts, and is to remain in force from March 1. l!i:)7. to February 2S. l!i:j,x.
