GOOD PROGRESS.
BIRKENHEAD DRAINAGE. SEWER AND RETICULATION. Good progress is being maintained on the main sewes and reticulation in connection with the installation of the drainage system at Birkenhead, according to the report made by the engineer, Mr. R. P. Worley, at last night's meeting of the Birkenhead Borough Council. So far, he said, not a great deal had been done at the tanks and outfall.
It was decided to forward to the engineer and contractors copies of a letter from the Waitemata Horticultural Society stating that members were concerned at damage that had been caused to gardens at Birkenhead by the drainage installation works.
The chairman of the finance committee, Mr. A. Hadfield, reported that the rate collection for the current financial year had been very satisfactory. Acting oh the advice of Mr. W. J. Xyon, M.P., the council appointed the Majgor, Mr. A. G. Osborne, to jjct on bepplf of the borough in making 'representations to the■•„; Prime, Minister, the Rfc. Hon. M. J. Savage, regarding the Auckland Harbour Bridge. Mr. Lyon had suggested that the visit of the Prime Minister to Auckland next week offered an opportunity for local mayors to make personal representations regarding the matter.
