TRUCK SALE SEQUEL.

UNLICENSED VEHICLE.

MAGISTRATE'S SERIOUS VIEW.

In obliging the purchaser of a motor truck. a young man, Rov Mervyn Sheeran committed breaches of the Motor -Vehicles Act. and for these he was prosecuted on summons in the Police Court this morning. He pleaded' guilty to charges of permitting the use of an unlicensed motor vehicle, incorrect numbers on a motor van, an;l failing to notify a change of ownership. Sub-Inspector Fox said defendant in August last, disposed of a motor truck which was unlicensed for the current vear, and he explained to the purchaser that it would have to be relieensed. The purchaser said he could not afford to relicense the vehicle at the time and persuaded defendant to lend him registration plates from another vehicle. At first defendant protested, but he took the plates from another truck. These were attached to the truck that he sold. Mr. Fox pointed out that all sorts of complications may have arisen if the truck in question had been involved in an accident. "It is one of the most serious breaches of the Motor Vehicles Act, for if a person was injured he would not be able to recover because the truck would not be covered by insurance," said Mr. C. R. Orr Walker, S.M. Defendant was fined £o on the first charge, convicted and discharged on the second and fined £1 on the third charge.
