MELBOLRXE, February 23. The going on the steeplechase grass track was fair for galloping at Caultield to-day. Cuddle moved freely over nine furlongs in 2.6%, but her near hind leg filled after working. Prince Quex beat Greenhorn over ten furlongs in 2.1(j 1 /4. Beechwood beat Humorist over six furlongs in 1.17, and Ajax was not extended to record the same time. Master Motley recorded the fastest five furlongs of the morning in 1.2%. Ena took 1.2%, the last three in 375. Gold Rod, who looked well, required 1.9. Xamakia and Pamelus moved freely in steady work. On the course proper at Flemington Gay Blonde, without shoes, covered a mile in 1.45. Hot Shot took 1.48. Young Crusader travelled well over nine furlongs in 1.59. Radiogram completed a mile and a quarter in 2.15, being assisted by Wykeham over the last mile in 1.47. Magnum Bonum beat St. Valorey in 2.15. Disalto dashed over half a mile in 50%5. Hua, assisted by Cultra, galloped seven furlongs in 1.31, the last half mile in 50%5. Bombus and Valpan were together at the end of six furlongs in 1.18%. New Zealand acceptors for the Mentone meeting to-morrow are: —Newmarket Trial Stakes, Namakia; Lambourn Handicap, first division, Bertha B.; Berkshire Mile, Limond Lad and Whernside.
