VICTORIA LEAGUE.
MORNING TEA. Several visitors to Auckland were honoured at the morning tea given vesterdav by the Victoria League at "the league rooms. The guests of honour were Mrs. D. Johnston, of South Africa; Mrs. Mowbray Tripp, president of the Canterbury branch of the Victoria league, Mrs. Edw-ardes and Miss Travers, of London; Mrs. W. G. Bagnall. a member from Tonga, and Miss Norman, of Wanganui. The guests were received by the president, Miss J. Mowbray, who spoke of the work of the league in various countries. Its hospitality, she said, was one of its most important features. A brief address on the peace movement and its importance in the world to-day was. given by Mrs. D. Johnston, of Natal, who recently completed a lecture tour of South Africa. People in every country of the world desired peace. Mrs. Johnston said. Because of her solidity. Great Britain led in the peace movement. Mrs. Johnston also spoke of the recent Peace Conference at Brussels, at which she was a delegate. and which was attended by more than 5000 men and women, representing 50 countries. Musical items were given during the serving of tea; songs by Mrs. Humfrey Gordon and pianoforte solos by Mrs. R. Reed. Tea was served by the following hostesses:—Mrs. C. R. Keeble, Miss A. H. Slator, Mrs. Hammond Hyde. Miss F. Murray, Mrs. Edgecombe, Mrs. R. F. Ward, Mrs. 8., Thomson, Miss L. Tuke, Miss A. Sutton, Miss Dinneen and Miss Stnbbs.
