Miss Kittio Boon was the recipient of some useful gifts given at an enjoyable luncheon party, held in the Milne and Chovce tearooms to-day. Among those present were: Mis. (orcoran. of Sydney, who has been touring the Dominion and is returning to Sydney by the Awatea. During her s'av in Auckland she has been the guest of Mrs. Mills. Among those present were: Me«dames M. Corcoran. I. Savers. A. Gilbert, T. McKay, Woolhouse, Misses Sunday. Mowbrav. Patrick Curran. M. Savers. I. Webb, M. Hiscocks. 1). White and .Toy Beattie. »•• " < A social afternoon was arranged by the Kumeu Tennis Club, when past and present members gathered to say farewell to Mr. F. L. Shaw, who is leaving the district. In presenting Mr. Shaw with a handsome silver cigarette box, the president. Dr. M. S. Harris, drew attention to the valuable assistance Mr. Shaw had rendered the club, having occupied the positions of president, treasurer and club captain. In thanking tile members and ex - members. Mr. Shawstated that it was with real regret he was leaving the district, but that lie did not intend severing his connection with the club, but that as a life member he would always take a keen interest in its actvities. Competitive tenn : s was enjoyed, and during the afternoon the ladies' social committee served tea. Those assisting were Mrs \. ('. Harris. Mrs. \Y. Smith. Mrs. I). Forrester. Mrs. S. H. Biss, Miss Patty Rust and Miss Yule.
