SEVERAL CASES OF THEFT.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) PI'KKKOHR, Tuesday. Tlie Pnkekolip Children's Court wae busy this morning;, when seven l¥>ys, whose ages ranged from seven to fifteen years, appeared before Mr. F. 11. Levien, S.M. Two boys, aged eight years, and another aged seven years, appeared for setting fire to a haystack at YVaiau Pa, in January. It was pointed out that the parents had paid • compensation to the owners of the stack. The charges were dismissed. Another l>oy, aged 12 years, who, it was stated, was not under proper control, was charged with stealing three bicycle* of a total value of £17. He was committed to the care of the child welfare officer. A Maori boy was admonished and discharged for stealing a bicycle valued at at Pukekohe, on June <i. A lifteen-ycar-old schoolboy was charged with committing mischief by wilfully damaging a church collection box to the extent of 2/0, and with the theft of a sum of money from a church at Kastbourne. The bov was admonished and ordered to refund 1/9, that l>eing his share of the money taken, two other boys having been implicated.
The theft of £30 at Tuakau, between January 14 and 28, led to the appearance of a fourteenvear-old boy, who was already under the care of the child welfare officer. The boy was admonished and discharged.
