DRIVER EXONERATED.

INTOXICATION CHARGE. FINED ON MINOR COUNTS. "The evidence is too contradictory for me to convict this man of being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor vehicle," remarked Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., when a relief worker, Cyril Roy Allen, appeared before him in the Police Court to-day on three charges. A tram motorman sakl that at 4.40 p.m. 011 November 14 he was driving a tram up Kliybcr Pass when a van in front turned across the road and a collision occurred. Allen, the driver of the van, appeared unsteady and was not clear in his speech. Mr. Noble said the doctor's report did not seem to indicate that the man was in an unfit condition to drive. "The information is dismissed on this charge," said the magistrate. On a second charge of negligent driving Allen was fined £2, with costs, and on a third of driving without a license, £1.
