SWIMMING SPLIT.

CONTROL AT ROTORUA. AFFINITY WITH TAURANGA. NEW BAY OF PLENTY CENTRE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ROTORUA, this day. Dissatisfaction with control by the South Auckland Swimming Centre, which lias been expressed from time to time by the Rotorua swimming clubs, has finally culminated in a definite split. Representatives of clubs in the Rotorua and Bay of Plenty districts met at the week-end and decided to form a Bay of Plenty Centre, which will affiliate with the New Zealand Swimming Association. The split was arranged amicably, the whole question being first discussed with the South Auckland Centre and reasons for desiring a change were explained, South Auckland delegates on the occasion of this meeting agreed that it would be more satisfactory to form a new centre to control swimming in Rotorua and Bay of Plenty districts, which had more in common than Rotorua and South Auckland. The following were elected the first executive of the new centre: Patron, Mr. C. H. Burnett. M.P. (Tauranga) ; president, Mr. H. Tai Mitchell (Rotorua) ; vice-presidents, Messrs. H. L. Musgrave (Rotorua), H. S. Rigger (Tauranga) ; local officer, Mr. D. H. Windeler; secretary-treasurer, Mr. L. Clarke (Rotorua) ; auditor, Mr. L. H. Gresliam (Rotorua). It was decided to conduct New Zealand' Maori championships at Rotorua during February, and a list of events for submission to the New Zealand Association was drawn up and approved.
